New routing for a barrier-free train station

Gersthofen station is on the main line from Augsburg via Donauwörth to Nuremberg. From here, Augsburg main station can be reached in five minutes. The expansion is part of a forward-looking transport concept for the region with the aim of getting commuters to switch from cars to trains.

The core of the project is the railway overpass for pedestrians with new sidewalks, cycle paths and bus stops. With the installation of elevators and the elevation of the platforms, Gersthofen station is the first completely barrier-free station on the Augsburg Donauwörth line.

But that's not all. The conversion of the train station supports local biodiversity. Sustainable and climate-friendly design of green areas, the integration of a photovoltaic system and green roofs of the bus stops contribute to the station playing a positive role in climate protection and the preservation of biodiversity.

The OHR1 4020 light line, certified for Deutsche Bahn, was used for the illuminated handrails, whereby the beam angle was selected in such a way that the material quality of the fair-faced concrete comes into its own and at the same time no compromises are made in terms of safety. By integrating the light into the handrail, the vertical surfaces remain untouched and form a visually homogeneous unit. For the illuminated bicycle racks in the forecourt, LEDLUX LH lights were integrated into NoLimit add-on profiles as a special solution in order to optically adapt the steel construction to the DB-listed facade profile.
