To make the town centre of Emmen more attractive, the central square in the town centre, the “Centrumsplein”, and “Boulevard Noord” have been redesigned. At the heart of the redesign is a spectacular lighting concept that creatively links the landscape and urban elements. The lighting of trees and hedges, for example, is positioned in such a way that the foliage casts different shadows every day.
The lighting scheme featured, amongst other things, high-quality recessed floor lights from InstaLighting. The LED luminaires used impress with their precise light control, high energy efficiency and a durable outdoor lighting solution. The combination of functional lighting and atmospheric lighting design creates a modern urban ambience with a high quality of stay.
At the renowned City People Light Award, Emmen and its innovative lighting concept were awarded the audience prize and the third prize of the jury.
