Leicester Square, London

Atmospheric lighting design in the heart of London

Leicester Square is east of Piccadilly Circus and north of Trafalgar Square in central London. Around the park is a pedestrian zone with large cinemas, hotels and shops. In the middle of the park are statues of William Shakespeare, Charlie Chaplin, William Hogarth, John Hunter and Isaac Newton. The hustle and bustle can be observed from the illuminated seating areas.

After 17 months of work, the square was ceremonially reopened in the spring of 2012 with a festive celebration — a culmination of a process in which virtually every stone was turned, the entire area completely relandscaped, seating areas refurbished, and a perimeter lighting system featuring warm-white instalight LEDLUX LN installed beneath the benches.
